Intro to ProMedia

One of my objectives and profesional goals is to build tools that matter for non-for-profits.  It's really appalling to me that so many organizations take advantage of these institutions just because the are willing to pay more for the "best".

Concrete5 comes out of the box, especially with this latest incoming release, with a massive tool for managing files and media.  

My vision and goal was to create a tool for displaying all that.  I couldn't reason re-inventing the wheel in regards to "managing" files...but displaying them seemed to me like a gaping hole. So the goal of this addon was to have a beautiful front end presentation using C5's awesome back end files and media management, and have it be very flexible.  I believe I have done just that.

ProMedia can handle most common video types, as well as mp3's and mp4's.  You can associate album artwork to your songs, message notes to a video cast, and even embed external video such as YouTube and Vimeo. (see video bellow)

ProMedia comes with two super clean views, large and regular which can fit nicely into any site.  But don't panic, PM isn't flash based, and you are not locked into one "style" of skin.  ProMedia includes a PSD file for both large and small that you can use to customize as PM is %100 CSS.

The RSS feed uses the embed tag for each item so that you can even publish your media to the likes of iTunes.

All around, this is an awesome package that will really help organizations present their media.  And on top of all that, it integrates perfectly with C5's file management!
